Review

An English major turned neurosurgeon's biography reflecting on his life. After years in residency as a doctor often dealing with life and death, he tragically is diagnosed with cancer and must struggle through this confrontation with death. The book begins with cancer so don't worry I didn't ruin anything. But, the author is so poetic and articulate conveying unique and deeply personal ideas about his own life's journey and meaning. You get to deeply know this intelligent and curious man as he makes important decisions in his life. The poetic prose conveys an intense pensive emotion and really made me respect doctors and literature more. And yes, I did shed a tear.
