The Hero With a Thousand Faces

I couldn't finish the book. I got through 50%, but it didn't just get better. The book has this framework of the hero journey's that it attempts to showcase through mythology. He setups what to look for in this mythology and his explanations are wordy, pompous showy sentences that provide little meaning. The mythology can be interesting, but despite his explanations, the connection to a hero's journey wasn't compelling and tenuous at best. The analysis of the human condition was shrouded and I couldn't find anything particularly interesting or unique in it.
